PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

All applicants for the position of Carpenter Helper shall meet the following minimum requirements.

1.  The starting wage rate for this position depends upon the division and job classification for which you are hired, and can fluctuate between divisions for the same job classification.

2.  Successfully pass an alcohol and controlled substances screen, in accordance with Flippo Construction Company, Inc. policies and guidelines.

3.  Possess the physical and mental ability to perform all work components as listed in the "Job Description."

4.  Have a means of transportation in order to report to a designated job location at the specified starting time.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

For the purposes of submitting an employment application with Flippo Construction Co., Inc., the job classification of a "Carpenter Helper" is considered to be a skilled position.  This position is one of physical output and mental skill.  A carpenter must be able to work on various assignments without supervision. A carpenter is responsible for securing the work area, this includes pulling or bending nails after stripping forms, installation of hand and guard rails, securing all open holes or excavations etc.

1.  A person selected for a carpenter's helper position must have primary experience in the following:

2.  Form work for building manholes, catch basins, retaining  walls, decks, etc., and secondary experience in: Tying steel, finishing concrete, stripping forms, hand grading, etc. In addition, a carpenter must, but is not limited to:

1.  Always be in or near your work area during the day unless you are directed otherwise by a supervisor.

2.  Always assist in other useful work when not actively performing carpenter duties.

3.  You MUST have your own Carpenters' Helper tools.

4.  Maintain the following tools in good working condition to perform assigned duties.

1 Pinch Bar

1 16 oz. or larger claw hammer

1 Tri-Square

1 2' Framing Square

1  Chalk Box

1  Torpedo Level (9" - 12")

1  8 - 10 Point Hand Saw

1  2' Level

1  Nail Pouch or Carpenter's Overalls with Pouch

1  Utility Knife with extra blades

3  Carpenter Pencils

1  1" Wood Chisel

1   Tool Box with lock

1   Small Plum Bob (8 oz. or larger)

1   25' or larger Measuring Tape

1   12" or larger Crescent Wrench

5.  Visually check for utilities, if utility locates are not marked or cannot be defined, check with the Foreman before you dig.

6.  Attend all carpenter's safety meetings.

7.  Take directions from the Foreman or in their absence their designated appointee.  Also be prepared to direct the crew if the foreman is not available.

8.  ork in all types of climate or weather conditions, unless there is an immediate threat of danger.

SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED:

The position of an operator requires the individual to possess the physical ability to perform the following task for a minimum of 8 hours per day.

1.  Negotiate rough terrain.

2.  Climb in and out of manholes, excavations, and/or other confined or enclosed spaces.

3.  Climb up and down from equipment either to operate it or perform routine maintenance checks.

4.  Carry and use trade associated tools, equipment, or material up to a weight of 95 pounds.

5.  Have adequate vision to observe and follow hand signals.

6.  Stand, stoop, bend, reach, climb, or walk.

7.  Purchase, wear and maintain safety equipment as required by the type of work or at the direction of the Safety Director or immediate supervisor.  These items must be purchased/worn immediately upon employment.

8.  Perform all associated job functions of a laborer, which includes, but is not limited to: constant physical labor such as shoveling, using sledge or claw hammers, mixing or breaking concrete, operating pipe or chain saws, carrying equipment or materials, or any other related duty.

9.  Posses the ability to understand, remember, and follow work related instructions or methods.
